Extended Data Table 8 Combined analysis using the mixed-model repeated measures analysis (MMRM) for PHQ-9 score at Week 26

From: Cognitive behavioral therapy skills via a smartphone app for subthreshold depression among adults in the community: the RESiLIENT randomized controlled trial

  1. The least squares mean changes and their differences of the PHQ-9 scores were estimated with the mixed-effects models for repeated-measures (MMRM). The regression model included fixed effects of treatment, visit (as categorical), and treatment-by-visit interactions, adjusted for baseline PHQ-9 scores, employment status, age and gender. P-values are two-sided and no adjustments are made for multiple comparisons.
  2. †Minus value indicates depression reduction. () indicates 95% confidence intervals.
  3. ‡Effect sizes (standardised mean differences) were calculated using the observed baseline SD for within-group change scores and the observed week 6 SD for group differences.
  4. The Delayed treatment group engaged in the program during after week 6, and is therefore excluded from the week 26 analyses.
  5. Single-skill intervention arms showed smaller changes from baseline (−2.88, 95%CU: −3.37 to −2.40) than two-skill interventions (−3.17, 95%CI: −3.66 to −2.68), resulting in between-group differences of −02.9 (−0.57 to −0.00) in PHQ-9 scores or effect size of −0.08 (−0.16 to −0.00, p = 0.049).
