In the version of this article initially published, due to mistakes during file preparation, Supplementary Fig. S20, panel f was a duplicate of Supplementary Fig. S21f, while Supplementary Fig. S23, panel b was a duplicate of Supplementary Fig. S23, panel a. The duplicated images in Supplementary Figs. S20a and S23b have now been omitted; the revisions do not affect spectra data found in Table S14. The original scale bar in Supplementary Fig. S7 (50 μm) was sized incorrectly and has now been amended. In Supplementary Fig. S23, it should be noted that panels e and g are the same particle, but different images and different spectra readings at different timepoints, as is now noted in the figure legend. In section 1.2 of the Supplementary Information, a sample preparation step for the addition of ethanol prior to ultracentrifugation has now been included, while Supplementary Table 12, presenting the sum of fibers, fragments and particles observed, has now been clarified and excludes earlier error calculations. In the main article, scale bars in both panels of Fig. 2b were sized incorrectly during the production process and are now corrected.
