Predicted proportion of intergroup encounters in which (A) female and (B) male group members are expected to participate aggressively as a function of the interaction between the number of adult females in the group and the availability of young leaves, flowers, fruits and seeds within their home range. Expected proportions were obtained by plotting the predictions of the GLMMs (Table 1), setting all additional predictors to their mean values (or median values for categorical variables), and the number of adult females in the group to + 1 SD above the mean (i.e., above average number of adult females in group) versus -1 SD below the mean (i.e., below average number of adult females). Measures of food availability have been z-score transformed.
