Table 2 Focus-group discussion questions.

From: Clinician and patient perspectives on a novel device for measuring urine flow volume and voiding patterns

1. When you take a patient’s history regarding the urinary system and their emptying habits, which parameters are most relevant for your diagnosis? (either parameters reported by the patient, ones you measure in the clinic, or ones you ask your patient to measure and/or track at home)

2. If you could develop a device that would help you perform measurements related to the urinary system and emptying habits at the clinic or at the patient’s home, what information would it collect?

/ Introduce the device—verbally, and using an illustration drawing /

3. What do you think are the advantages of this device?

4. What do you think are the disadvantages of this device? What might prevent a patient from using the device?

5. Given the potential barriers to the device being used, what could be done to overcome these barriers?

6. Would you use this device? Why, or why not?
