Low-magnification (a) and high-magnification (b) TEM images of the Ca-MDP nanolayers observed at low doses clearly show the Ca-MDP nanolayers in their characteristic highly layer-ordered profile. No Ca2+ atomic ordering could be observed. (c) HAADF-STEM image at low magnification where periodicity measurements show regional distancing variations at locations of (i) ~ 4.2 nm and (ii)  ~3.8 nm.
