  1. 1 Hyperglycemia was defined as objectively-assessed fasting venous blood glucose concentration ≥ 6.1mmol/L.

  3. 3 Body weight status (non-excess: BMI < 24; overweight: BMI = 24–27; obese: BMI ≥ 28) was categorized based on recommendations for Chinese adults using body mass index (BMI).
  4. 4 Hypertension (HTN) referred to that either the objectively-measured systolic/diastolic blood pressure exceeded 140/90 mmHg or diagnosed hypertension.
  5. 5 Triglyceride status was classified as normal (< 1.7mmol/L) and hypertriglyceridemia (HTG) (≥ 1.7mmol/L) according to Chinese Guidelines for Lipid Management (2023).
