MSTN-KO cattle exhibit increased skeletal muscle mass due to elevated BCAA levels in muscle, derived from upregulated BCAA synthesis genes in rumen Prevotella species (Prevotella_sp._CAG:732, MSX73, and MA2016). Prevotella abundance correlates positively with traumatin, droperidol, and linoleic acid. Myostatin knockout also enhances solute carrier (SLC) gene expression in muscle, promoting BCAA transport, muscle fiber formation, and reduced intermuscular fat.Ā The blue arrow represents an increase, and the red arrow represents a decrease.
