In his Correspondence (Sharpe, D. Student evaluations of teaching should not be abandoned. Nat. Rev. Psychol. https://doi.org/10.1038/s44159-025-00464-8; 2025)1, Sharpe defends student evaluations of teaching despite the problems with prejudice, construct validity and pedagogy discussed in my Comment (Hodson, G. It is time to abandon student evaluations of teaching. Nat. Rev. Psychol. https://doi.org/10.1038/s44159-025-00444-y; 2025)2.

First, he claims that high school students simply make use of limited information when evaluating experimentally equivalent professors who differ only in ethnicity and/or gender. He questions what this finding tells us. It tells us that students will use stereotypes in their judgements.
