How Time Flies: 25 Years of Circadian and Sleep Research

Submission status

Submission deadline

The last 25 years have seen profound changes in our understanding of circadian rhythms and sleep regulation. From the rise of transcriptional feedback loop models in eukaryotes to the mechanistic dissection of an entirely post-translational clock in Cyanobacteria; from the discovery of sleep in animals as diverse as flies and jellyfish, to the incredible uptake of sleep wearables, big data and machine learning. This collection of invited reviews will offer a series of personal perspectives from leaders in the field about the critical advances since 2000 and what the future holds for circadian and sleep research.
