Utilising the in vitro multicellular human cerebral organoid model and RNA sequencing analysis, cytomegalovirus (CMV) -induced dysregulations in neuronal gene systems and pathways were identified, including a possible association between congenital cerebral CMV infection and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
