Lysosomal lipid peroxidation contributes to ferroptosis induction via lysosomal membrane permeabilization

The early events in ferroptosis are not clear. Here, the authors report that intra-lysosomal lipid peroxidation (LPO) induces lysosomal membrane permeabilization (LMP) and consequent iron leakage, fostering cell-wide LPO and eventually ferroptotic cell death in tumor cells.

Fluorescence probes to detect lipid-derived radicals

A newly synthesized nitroxide-based probe containing a fluorophore with high quantum yield at relatively long wavelengths can detect endogenously derived lipid-derived radicals and has therapeutic potential in a model of hepatocellular carcinoma.
