Extreme event attribution using km-scale simulations reveals the pronounced role of climate change in the Durban floods

Climate change substantially increased rainfall during the Durban floods of 11–12 April 2022 in south Africa, with at least 40% higher rainfall compared to a counterfactual cooler world, according to atmospheric model simulations using a km-scale perturbed-physics ensemble to undertake extreme event attribution.

CCDC39 is required for assembly of inner dynein arms and the dynein regulatory complex and for normal ciliary motility in humans and dogs

Michel Georges and colleagues identify a founder mutation in CCDC39 associated with primary ciliary dyskinesia in Old English Sheepdogs. They further show that mutations in human CCDC39 cause a similar phenotype and that CCDC39 is required for the assembly of inner dynein arms and the dynein regulatory complex.
