Intermolecular charge transfer as an excited-state modulator for dual delayed luminescence in doping systems

Luminescent materials are promising for many applications though balancing thermally activated delayed fluorescence and room temperature phosphorescence using small organic molecules is challenging. Here the authors use polyaromatic hydrocarbons and benzophenone balancing fluorescence and phosphorescence.

Major-auxiliary cooperative metal pairs in MOFs enable cascade oxidation of KA oil to ε-caprolactone

ε-Caprolactone is a key starting point for the preparation of many polymers, such as polycaprolactone, polyurethane and nylon-6. Here the authors show that a metal-organic framework in conjunction with oxygen and benzaldehyde can facilitate the synthesis of ε-caprolactone from ketone-alcohol oil feedstock in a cascade oxidation.

Endothelial TGF-β signalling drives vascular inflammation and atherosclerosis

Chen et al. report that TGF-β signalling, although largely considered anti-inflammatory, has proinflammatory effects on endothelial cells. Inhibition of endothelial TGF-β signalling decreases atherosclerosis in mice and reverts established plaques, in part by decreasing endothelial-to-mesenchymal transitions.
