Translation of mRNA into protein is a fundamental process and tightly controlled during development, however, experimentally controlling the mRNA translation remains challenging. Here, the authors demonstrate the translation of FlashCap-eGFP-mRNA can be triggered via light-mediated activation in zebrafish embryos with spatiotemporal control.
