Room temperature all-solid-state lithium batteries based on a soluble organic cage ionic conductor

While solid-state batteries offer higher energy densities than liquid-based batteries, such devices require effective ion conduction pathways. Here, authors prepare porous organic cages as solution-processable catholytes that are enable excellent performances from various cathode active materials.

A rechargeable iodine-carbon battery that exploits ion intercalation and iodine redox chemistry

Carbon-based electrodes able to intercalate Li⁺ and Na⁺ ions have been exploited for high performing energy storage devices. Here, the authors combine the ion intercalation properties of porous graphitic carbons with the redox chemistry of iodine to produce iodine–carbon batteries with high reversible capacities.

Near-infrared II cyanine fluorophores with large stokes shift engineered by regulating respective absorption and emission

Fluorescence bioimaging in the second near-infrared (NIR-II) window facilitates in vivo diagnosis and treatment of diseases, but NIR-II fluorophores with large Stokes shifts are scarce. Here, the authors report an asymmetrical cyanine framework that exhibits NIR-II fluorescence and large Stokes shift (167–260 nm), enabling clear imaging of the fine bone structure of the mouse knee joint.

CO_x hydrogenation to methanol and other hydrocarbons under mild conditions with Mo₃S₄@ZSM-5

A series of materials containing Mo-S clusters confined in zeolitic cages of ZSM-5 are reported and shown to be efficient for CO₂ or CO hydrogenation with >98% selectivity to methanol, stable over 1000 h, or C₂ and C₃ hydrocarbons, stable over 100 h.
