Synergetic iridium and amine catalysis enables asymmetric [4+2] cycloadditions of vinyl aminoalcohols with carbonyls

Inverse electron-demand cycloadditions in palladium catalysis are inherently limited by the linear selectivity in the allylic substitution step. To overcome this issue, the authors report a synergetic iridium (branched-selective) and amine catalysis in [4+2] cycloadditions of vinyl aminoalcohols with carbonyls.

Enantioselective macrocyclization via catalytic metallic dipole relay

Construction of planar chiral [2,2]paracyclophanes via photoinduced cobalt-catalyzed desymmetric addition

Planar chiral [2,2]paracyclophanes (PCPs) are widely used in materials science and asymmetric syntheses. Here the authors present a cobalt-catalyzed desymmetric addition of pseudopara-diformyl and pseudo-gem-diformyl PCPs, enabling the synthesis of planar chiral PCP alcohols with both planar and central chiralities.

Asymmetric trapping of zwitterionic intermediates by sulphur ylides in a palladium-catalysed decarboxylation-cycloaddition sequence

Sulphur ylides are useful reagents in organic synthesis, typically reacting with highly polar reagents. Here, the authors show a catalytic asymmetric process for the addition of sulphur ylides to cyclic allylic esters with loss of CO₂, giving access to chiral, highly functionalised indolines.
