Preclinical characterization of an intravenous coronavirus 3CL protease inhibitor for the potential treatment of COVID19

The 3CL protease of SARS-CoV-2 is inhibited by PF-00835231 in vitro. Here, the authors show that the prodrug PF-07304814 has broad spectrum activity, inhibiting SARS-CoV and SARS-CoV-2 in mice and its ADME and safety profile support clinical development.

Endohedral fullerenes for organic photovoltaic devices

A limiting factor of the power conversion efficiencies of organic photovoltaic devices is low voltage output. Methano derivatives of the trimetallic endohedral fullerene Lu₃N@C₈₀ have now been synthesized and used as the acceptor in organic photovoltaics. The open circuit voltage of the devices is significantly above those made using alternative fullerenes.
