Scientific creationism is a social movement of rationalists — amateur philosophers of science — whose claims upon science policy are nonetheless wholly unreasonable. This thesis may not endear the author either to rationalists or creationists, but it may illumine the movement's behaviour and the sources of its wider appeal.
