IWS1 positions downstream DNA to globally stimulate Pol II elongation

Although IWS1 has been implicated in transcription-coupled processes, its direct role in RNA polymerase II function remained undefined. Here, the authors demonstrate that IWS1 enhances Pol II elongation velocity by acting as a structural scaffold and promoting co-transcriptional H3K36me3 deposition.

Space charge governs the kinetics of metal exsolution

The self-assembly of metallic nanoparticles on oxide supports via metal exsolution relies on dopant transport, but strong electrostatic gradients and space charges typically control the properties of surfaces. The surface–dopant interaction is shown to be the main determining factor for the exsolution kinetics of nickel in a perovskite system.
