  • Dangerous initiators and low reaction temperatures required for controlled anionic polymerization limit its widespread implementation. Now it has been shown that safe-to-handle, solid, CO2-protected initiators allow for a one-pot polymerization set-up. The CO2 released during initiation then tempers the chain-end reactivity, thus achieving well-defined materials at elevated temperatures.
