Identifying bridges from asymmetric load-bearing structures in tapped granular packings

Understanding load-bearing structures in granular assemblies offers insights into their stability and rheological behavior. Using high-resolution X-ray tomography, the authors experimentally investigate bridge structures in tapped granular packings, revealing that these bridges result from gravity-induced contact asymmetry and exhibit increasing cooperativity as the packing becomes less compact
