Orbital angular momentum in thermal neutrons holds many promises for quantum information and neutron scattering, however the production thereof remains challenging. The authors detail a coherent averaging method, which can generate neutron vortices smaller than previously possible and can be applied to anisotropic ultra small angle scattering.
