Developing artificial bulk materials that seamlessly integrate rigid inorganic components with ductile organic constituents is vital for replicating the mechanical properties of natural biological composites but elusive. Here, the authors report a calcium phosphate-based inorganic-organic hybrid metamaterial that seamlessly integrates the functional traits of inorganic and organic constituents.
