Engineering shear polaritons in 2D twisted heterostructures

Hyperbolic shear polaritons (HShPs) are strongly confined light-matter excitations that have been previously observed in low-symmetry 3D materials with limited tunability. Here, the authors report the observation and manipulation of HShPs in twisted bilayers α-MoO₃ by tuning the sample structure or using a graphene electrostatic gate.

A copper-phyllosilicate core-sheath nanoreactor for carbon–oxygen hydrogenolysis reactions

Nanoscale copper catalysts are useful for the selective hydrogenation of carbon–oxygen bonds, although they may be deactivated under harsh conditions. Here the authors report the enhanced activity and stability of core-sheath copper-phyllosilicate nanoreactors due to electronic and morphological effects.

RORγ is a targetable master regulator of cholesterol biosynthesis in a cancer subtype

Enhanced cholesterol biosynthesis is associated with cancer progression. Here the authors identify the nuclear receptor RORγ as a novel master regulator of cholesterol metabolism in triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) and find that RORγ small-molecule antagonists induce tumor regression in patient-derived xenografts and immunocompetent mouse models.
