Selective CH4-to-C2 oxygenate conversion under mild conditions remains a key challenge in catalysis with notable commercial potential. Here the authors report the precise construction of densely packed O2-bridged Fe diatomic sites on carbon nitride aerogel-supported Fe dual-atom catalysts, enabling selective methane oxidation to acetic acid in aqueous solution under mild conditions.
