Abstract
THE chemical composition of the causative organism of epidemic typhus fever, Rickettsia prowazeki, is quite obscure. A chemical study was therefore undertaken of Rickettsia cultivated in the lungs of white mice, purified suspensions of which are used for the preparation of vaccines1.
