Abstract
DURING a survey of the detailed sculpturing of the specialized naked integument of the mammalian rhinarium, what appears to be a hitherto undescribed tactile organ has been noted in almost all members of the Rodentia examined, except the Hystricomorpha. Developed in incipient form in the Lagomorpha, it becomes more defined in the Sciuromorpha, but attains its highest differentiation in the Myomorpha.
