Abstract
IT is well known that the depolarization factors of the Raman lines produced by the totally symmetric vibrations of the XCl4 molecules of the tetrahedral type are not zero1. Recently in this laboratory, it has been shown that the depolarization factors are smaller than the results given by many investigators; but they definitely are not zero2.
