Abstract
THE problem of restricted winter growth of pastures is of agronomic importance in many countries. This is especially true over large areas of Australia where fodder conservation, as one solution, is not economic. The possibility, inherent in the work of Morgan and Mees1,2, Leben and Barton3, Wittwer et al. 4,5 and Corns6, that gibberellic acid might increase winter growth of continuously grazed pastures, does not appear to have been exploited beyond an initial experiment of Scurfield and Bull7. Results of that experiment were sufficiently encouraging to warrant our pursuing the matter further.
