Effect of Diphenylamine on the Synthesis of Carotene

Abstract

A NUMBER of authors have shown that diphenylamine inhibits the synthesis of carotenoids mainly by micro-organisms1–4. We have carried out investigations with a red yeast rich in carotenoids in order to interpret the mechanism of this inhibition.
