Number and Arrangement of Osteons in Corresponding Regions of Homotypic Long Bones

Abstract

TETRACYCLINES administered in vivo become incorporated into recently laid down rapidly calcifying bone-tissue; the labelled material can be detected by its fluorescence in ultra-violet light1–5. This technique represents a very valuable new tool in the investigation of bone growth and reconstruction.
