Abstract
TWO perennial grasses, Brachiaria ruziziensis and Setaria sphacelata, were sown at the same time in adjacent field plots. The first samples were taken after six weeks and later at weekly intervals during the next 16 weeks. The whole plant was taken from approximately 1 in. above the soil at different growth stages. The samples were dried at 50° C. under forced draught, milled and analysed.
