Sodium Chloride Sensitivity and Electrochemical Effects in a Lorenzinian Ampulla

Abstract

IN the course of experiments on effects of polarizing currents on Lorenzinian ampullæ, in which current pulses were applied to the receptor with electrodes filled with sodium chloride, we found accidentally that the receptor is sensitive to very small amounts of sodium and chlorine ions. This prompted us to examine the chemosensitivity of the ampulla.
