Abstract
THE effects of actinomycin D, an antibiotic which is a specific inhibitor of the enzyme DNA primed-RNA polymerase, on morphogenesis in amphibian eggs and in the alga Acetabularia mediterranea have been presented in a preceding communication1. It was shown that inhibition of nuclear RNA synthesis (presumably messenger-RNA synthesis) results in the inhibition of cephalo-caudal and dor so-ventral differentiation, in amphibian embryos.
