FOLLOWING Heslot's discovery of the strong mutagenic action of diethylsulphate (DS) and ethylmethansulphonate (EMS) in barley1, techniques for the use of aqueous solutions of both compounds in mutagenic experiments have been investigated by some workers2,3.
