Nucleon-nucleus Interactions

Abstract

THREE decades of intensive study of nuclear phenomena have not brought a detailed understanding of the forces between the nucleons which comprise the atomic nucleus. Even if the forces were known, mathematical techniques are at present inadequate to solve the Schrödinger equation for nuclei containing more than a few nucleons.
