Abstract
IN the course of recent investigations of the geology and mineralogy of the phosphate deposits of Christmas Island, Indian Ocean, numerous samples of apatite (optical varieties, collophane and dahllite) were analysed chemically. The purity of the samples was established by X-ray diffraction and differential thermal analysis. A typical analysis is shown in Table 1.
