Effect of Heparin on Mixed Lymphocyte Cultures

Abstract

MIXED lymphocyte culture may well offer a valuable assay of histocompatibility and it has been suggested that it can be used in donor selection for allotransplantation1,2. Goldsmith3, however, finds that this technique produces variable results when it is repeated with cells from the same individuals. Bach and Voynow4 have also reported contradictory results on consecutive days. One reason for the lack of reproducibility may be the method of collecting samples of blood.
