Abstract

THE recently published article by Bryant and Trabasso1 gives the impression that something significantly new about children's inference has been discovered which, in turn, challenges Piaget's2 analysis of operative development. The thesis and the data on which it is based deserve critical commentary because the first claim is questionable and the latter is incorrect.
