A ciliated cell can be seen in the right upper corner of the figure. (b) Higher magnification of a ciliated cell of the same tumor as shown in (a). In addition to the cilia, the cell membrane appears to be covered by many microvilli, which exhibit a great variation in their lengths (a, × 5500; b, × 23 000).
