Reversibly wettability-switchable surface driven by DNA nanomotors. At low pH, the DNA adopts an i-motif conformation (state I). Raising the pH destabilizes the i-motif to produce a stretched single-stranded state (state II) or duplex structure (state III, when a complementary strand is present).
