Blocking tick-borne encephalitis

Tick-borne encephalitis virus (TBEV) is an orthoflavivirus that is largely transmitted to humans through the bite of infected ixodid ticks and invades the central nervous system causing neuroinflammation. Although TBEV vaccines have been developed, there are currently no specific antiviral treatments available.
