Ultrastructure of isolated eosinophil granules. (ai and bi) Transmission electron microscopy of a granule-enriched fraction isolated by subcellular fractionation shows typical EoSVs, the lumens of which are highlighted in pink in (aii and bii). EoSVs are imaged as open, curved, tubular-shaped structures. EoSVs are seen around and in close association with isolated granules. Granules were isolated and fixed for optimal membrane preservation as described in Materials and methods section. Bar, 250 nm (a and b). Gr, specific granules.
