Abstract
ABSTRACT: Cytolytic T lymphocytes are important effectors in the immune response to allografts, viral infections, and some tumors. Cytolytic T lymphocyte lines and clones have been generated and used to define functionally relevant effector and target cell surface molecules. The major target antigens of the human allogeneic response are the major histocompatibility complex antigens. Functionally relevant effector antigens include LFA-1, LFA-2, LFA-3, OKT4, OKT8, OKT3, and Ti, the T cell receptor. The diagnostic and therapeutic implications of T cell surface molecules are discussed.
