Abstract
In this study the effect of IVIG treatment on the activation of C was investigated. The patients' group consisted of 11 infants with bacterial sepsis. The conventional antimicrobial therapy in these patients was supplemented with acid /pH 4/ treated immunoglobulin for three days /daily dose 300mg/kg/. The possible effect of the IVIG treatment on the activation of C was studied by measuring the CH50 and AP50 activity as well as concentration of C3 and C3d/C3dg before and soon after the first dose of immunoglobulin was given and on the day after the three day treatment /Table/.
+expressed as the percentage of C3d/C3dg in inulin activated NHS Taken together these results indicate no significant alteration in C activation during IVIG treatment of septic infants.
