DECISION ANALYSIS OF CORTICOSTEROID TREATMENT IN PREGNANCIES 24-32 WEEKS' GESTATION WITH PRETERM PREMATURE RUPTURE OF MEMBRANES. † 1575

Antenatal corticosteroid therapy (AC) has been associated with a reduced risk of intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH) in AC-exposed premature infants. However, AC is seldom used in pregnancies complicated by preterm premature of membranes (PPROM), because of the potential increased risk of maternal infection and neonatal sepsis (Sep).

Objective: To compare the advantage of AC in reducing the risk of Grades III-IV IVH with the potential disadvantage of increasing the risk of Sep in pregnancies at 24-32 weeks' gestation complicated by PPROM.
