Introduction. We have previously shown that the use of a pacifier increases the occurrence of acute otitis media (AOM). In addition, prolonged use of a pacifier is associated with dental caries. To further establish the role of a pacifier as a risk factor for AOM, we made an intervention study at well baby clinics.
