In many neonatal LVOTO lesions, the adequacy of the left heart is questionable. However, some LVOTO lesions associated with "hypoplastic" LV's are amenable to biventricular repair. We hypothesized that: 1) pre-operative (preop) LV volume is reduced due to compression by the right ventricle and by underfilling secondary to underlying hemodynamics; 2) preop potential LV volume, which is that volume assumed by the LV in the absence of compression by the right ventricle (J Am Coll Cardiol 1997; 30:1547), can accurately predict post-operative (postop) volume; 3) the "Rhodes criteria" (Circulation 1991; 84:2325
