  1. The top non-human match was selected to monitor contamination from sampling materials or wet-laboratory processing. Sampling blanks represent clean sampling material that did not come into contact with parchment (n, 1 each). The DNA isolation blanks (n, 4) were carried through the full DNA isolation process starting with an empty tube containing no sample or sampling materials. *denotes that two reads were mapped to the cattle reference for two different DNA isolation blanks.
