Infants who were on CMV in the delivery room are shown in blue and infants who were on HFOV in the delivery room are shown in red. As noted by *, pH was significantly higher and CO2 significantly lower for the first 6 h of life in the HFOV group. Of note, once placed on ECMO infants were excluded from this analysis as blood gas values would then reflect the ECMO circuit.
